PLANT MANAGER

Our client recently celebrated its 100th anniversary as a leader in the flow control industry. This is a private company with over $500 million in sales and multiple facilities located in North America and Europe. The Plant Manager will oversee a team-oriented, non-union facility located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

The Position

• Reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing.
• Responsible for all aspects of this 325-employee, $100 million facility.
• Senior management team includes Operations, Engineering, Finance and Materials, Facilities/Tooling/Maintenance, Human Resources, and Safety.
• Key targets for 2008 include cost reduction and the integration of small diameter press products that are currently outsourced.
• Provide functional and strategic leadership.
• Identify customer requirements and ensure needs are being exceeded.
• Champion the culture through the Vision, Values, and Critical Success Factors.
• Coach and develop staff.
• Prepare annual budget and rolling forecast.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Develop effective community relations and serve as the principal spokesperson for the company in the community.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10-15 years of manufacturing experience, including a minimum of 3 years experience as a Plant or Operations Manager.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience with a Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing culture.
• Prefer a strong understanding of inventory management.
• Experience from a manufacturing culture with a strong focus on safety.
• Foundry and/or metal products background helpful.
• Approachable leader able to communicate with all levels of the plant.
